FAQ
How does a Po-key Smock work?
The process is designed to be user-friendly. For each specific routine, a new smock can be easily placed on top of the caregiver's attire. Take, for example, the 'toilet time' routine. The 'Toilet time' smock serves as a communication board featuring 12 images and symbols, organized in the sequence of a typical toileting routine.
During 'toilet time,' the participant will view the visuals, and the caregiver will verbally communicate each step of the routine while pointing to the corresponding symbol on their smock. Alternatively, the participant can use hand pointing to indicate their choice or awareness of the current step. As the routine progresses, the caregiver will move on to the next step. With repetition and practice, the participant may gain the independence to themself point at the desired step or symbol, facilitating their communication and participation in the toileting routine.
We recommend first time users commence on our 'basic range' regardless of your child's capabilities, as the caregiver must also first grasp the concept of pointing at themself and using the smock. We recommend the intermediate/advanced smocks be used only for participants (not the caregiver/wearer) who are actively pointing at the smock. However, some may grasp the concept quicker.
Can Po-Key Smocks be claimed under the NDIS?
Po-Key Smocks may be claimable under the NDIS if they meet your individual support needs and goals as outlined in your NDIS plan.
We deliver lower risk supports to NDIS participants in the form of clothing displaying low-tech communication boards.
For Self-Managed and Plan-Managed participants, they may be purchased using NDIS funding if considered reasonable and necessary.
We would recommend the following:

Do you sell to International Customers?
Po-Key Smocks will soon be available on Etsy, Amazon and other platforms where smocks will be produced & shipped Internationally. The NDIS does not apply to International Customers.
Will more smocks be released?
In short, Yes! We plan to design and release more shirts for more categories. If you have a request or idea, please feel free to email with your suggestion/s or get in touch via Facebook/Instagram. The designing of a smock does take some time so we will prioritise ideas and new smocks by way of everyday functionality.
Refund Policy
In the case of a damaged product or a manufacturing error, we offer a free replacement or a refund if we are contacted within 30 days of product delivery with clear images of the problem. Please email us with your order details and attach images of the product and damage.
Pokey Smocks are custom 'print-on-demand' products so returns and exchanges are not supported if you ordered the wrong size, colour or have a change of mind. Dimensions of our products are available on each item page.
Where are Po-key Smocks made?
Po-key Smocks purchased from this website for our Australian customers are made on-demand in Australia. We recommend a larger fit for comfort as they are not intended to be used fashionably/formally and ideally can be used over the top of everyday attire (they can also be used as home wear/Pyjama tops with a regular fit).
